10 WEIGHT LOSS FOODS YOU’LL LIKE [PLUS MEAL PLAN]

You decide it’s time to lose weight and you head to the grocery store.

Now what?

Aimlessly walking around the grocery store looking for something to eat, is not a great weight loss strategy.

So, I did some planning for you.

Here is a list of 10 weight loss foods that you’ll enjoy eating along with a full day meal plan.

Choosing Weight Loss Foods

To make my list, each food had to meet at least three of the following criteria:

1. High in fiber
2. High in B vitamins (These vitamins are needed to convert calories to energy.)
3. Low in calories
4. Easy to find
5. Enjoyable by most people’s standards (This is why kale is not on my list.)

One more thing, I broke the list up into categories. In reality, the top 10 foods for weight loss are all vegetables, but I know that veggies alone don’t make a days worth of eating.

Here’s The List of Weight Loss Foods

Protein

Black beans
Tilapia

Carbs

Green leafy vegetables (think salad greens)
Cruciferous vegetables (e.g. broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, Brussel sprouts)
Berries
Ezekiel 4:9 Sprouted Whole Grain Bread
Oats

Fats

Seeds (flax, chia, hemp and sunflower)
Nuts (walnuts, almonds, cashews, pistachios)

Here’s The Meal Plan

Breakfast

Oatmeal (Ingredients: 1/4 cup oats, 1/3 cup water, 1 cup mixed berries, 1 Tbsp. chopped walnuts, ½ Tbsp. hemp seeds, 1 tsp. cinnamon | Instructions: Put in a bowl, microwave for 2 ½ minutes.)

Lunch

Salad (Ingredients: 4 cups mixed salad greens, ½ cup black beans, tomato, onions, 1 Tbsp. sunflower seeds)

Croutons (Ingredients: 1 slice of Ezekiel bread (cut into cubes), 1 tsp. garlic powder, 1 tsp. onion powder, 1 tsp. Mrs. Dash Original Blend | Instructions: Preheat oven to 250 degrees, place bread cubes on a pan, sprinkle with seasoning mixture, bake for 20 minutes)

2 Tbsp. Maple Grove Farms Ginger Pear Dressing

Dinner

Tilapia (size of the palm of your hand)
2 cups steamed broccoli and cauliflower

Why These Foods Make My List

Black beans are high in fiber, high in B vitamins and easy to add into salads or recipes like burritos and chili. They are a weight loss secret weapon.

Tilapia is my top fish choice because it is low in mercury and high in vitamin B12. It also has a mild flavor (not too fishy).

Green leafy vegetables and cruciferous vegetables are the best weight loss (& health) foods. They are extremely low in calories, yet high in fiber and B vitamins. Add broccoli and cauliflower to a couple of cups of salad greens each day and you will give new life to your weight loss.

Berries are the best fruits for weight loss. They satisfy your sweet tooth while being low in sugar. Any type of berry (blueberry, blackberry, strawberry, etc) is high in fiber and nutrients.

Ezekiel 4:9 Sprouted Whole Grain Bread is now found in most grocery stores (may be frozen in the health food section, or find it on Amazon). It’s organic and a complete protein bread. If you “need” bread, this is will give you a fairly good amount of fiber along with a great taste.

Oats are convenient to store and easy to add to your daily diet. Oats are a good source of fiber and B vitamins. Adding them to your breakfast will get your weight loss day off to a good start.

Seeds and nuts contain healthy fats, like omega-3 fats as well as fiber and B vitamins. They have been found through countless research studies to be good for weight loss. Adding them into recipes or salads will add a satisfying crunch to your diet.
